Catching waves

Hello Awesome People,

I have never surfed. However, I did just watch a movie that had surfing in it so I am now an expert. Not really but stick with me. Waves are a natural occurrence, happening constantly around the world. They have breathe, weight, patterns, cycles, variation of size and depth, order and chaos. Rhythm is the same way. It happens all the time in things we do and never consider. Rhythms keep us alive and the world order mostly in check. Like the waves, rhythms have infinite variations in our experience and interpretation of them. Some, feel soothing and warm, others feel maybe more chaotic and disorienting. TaKeTiNa Portland, Jacob Stein, Rhythm Meditation, Awareness

While in the TaKeTiNa process, just like the surfer on the waves, we choose which waves we want to try and catch and when. We have the freedom to let as many waves go by as we need. When the time comes we pick a wave and ride it as far as we can or want, then bask in the result, whether we made it all the way or just to standing before an awesome tumble. The important part is that we are feeling inside ourselves for when to get up on the wave and enjoying whatever comes.

TaKeTiNa is a practice of awareness. It allows us time and space to choose which waves we want or need to ride. Eventually allowing us know what works for us, and what we need to go outside of our old stories. Sometimes it isn’t even about being able to ride, it is about being willing to crash and burn with absolute joy in our heart. I hope you can make it tonight as we see where the waves of rhythm take us.

Peace,
Jacob
