Hello World,
Finding space in our daily lives can be difficult. That’s before we start to wonder what kind of space we are trying to find in the first place. “What? There is more than one type of space? I’m gonna need a minute…”
In this weekends journey we will explore three types of space: physical, mental, emotional.
Physical space: in rhythm Space is a defining elements. There is always infinitely more space than beats. Emphasizing the space in a rhythm or musical piece can change our experience and feelings about it. If we actually change the amount of space, by slowing down or speeding up, the rhythm is fundamentally different.
Mental space: Try and remember everything you have to do all the time and then try to learn something new while constantly keeping the to-do list in your head… Not fun. This is not what I experience as having mental space. Let go of those things for now and try to learn something new. This provides far more mental space in my opinion.
Emotional Space: Love, worry, gratitude, sadness, hope, anger. Emotions, positive or negative, can be forces for change. Often we need to find a way to not have them take over our lives so we can make those changes happen. Emotions are essential to the human experience so having space for them to come and go is key.
TaKeTiNa provides an environment for us to explore space on all three levels simultaneously. Maybe we explore physical space and find mental space. Maybe we gain emotional space as we let go of the things that are filling our mental space. Maybe we gain physical space as we ease the emotions that keep our bodies tense. Maybe, just maybe, we laugh, play, sing, and find a whole new sensation of being in space.
Peace,
Jacob Stein
